Modalities
A combination of nutrition sensitive interventions and support dependant on context that could include improving access to social protection, CVA, livelihoods including agricultural, livestock and food system support and income generation delivered over longer durations.
Conditions and considerations
- Protracted crisis in many settings creates the need for long–term solutions to assist vulnerable households in coping with shocks.
- Longer timeframes may be a constraint in contexts where the need to stabilise a deteriorating food security situation is relatively urgent.
- However, the need for longer term programming that focuses on resilience is urgently needed in many protracted settings. Such programmes can run alongside/ in parallel with interventions that are helping to meet more immediate needs.
- Include qualitative monitoring indicators that measure the percentage of women actively engaged in income– generating activities and those who were trained on income–generating activities. Provide childcare support in the formal and informal sectors to attract and retain mothers in paid employment and to fulfil an income earning potential.
